Mine too.
What irritating things are you really not in the mood to deal with today?
A couple from me:
- A parking infringement notice that just arrived from Hertz (who've simply paid it and billed me) from our recent trip to Queensland - we arrived at Maroochydore airport in the middle of a fricking monsoon, and after I swam out to the car park to get the car and drove it back to the door to shove the suitcases in it and run, I inadvertently (since visibility was so low - IT WAS A FRICKING MONSOON) parked slightly on the (clearly completely deserted) pedestrian crossing for the ten to fifteen seconds it took to get everything inside it and out of the torrential tropical downpour - and some petty little tyrant airport official took the rego down to book me. Whilst swearing at me. Welcome to Queensland.
- Utilities that keep getting my new address wrong no matter how many times I update it.
- Connex trains being stuffed so full that people in the doorways have to breathe in so that the doors can shut.
- That RSPCA ad with the violin repeatedly playing "all things bright and beautiful" in a minor key that they have on permanent loop at the Eastland food court.
- Throat virus.
Get it all off your chest in the comments. No need to be measured or reasonable* - it's too freaking hot for that.
*Nothing actionable, though, thanks.
UPDATE: On the subject of irritants, budget journalist Timmeh Blair has had a vent of his own, revealing that he is now uneasy about the publishing of someone's full name and photograph online linked to criticism of them - despite his long history of regularly doing just that. (Including regarding me, in a spiteful old post he links to today.)
UPDATE #2: Ah, now Andy Bolt (apparently angrier than ever over the existence of BoltWatch) wants to have a go, thereby proving the point of the subsequent post. (And I'm sure any visitors he sends over will take that point and freaking well prove it into the ground.)
Of course, Andy adds an implied threat to my job to his post.
I suppose his flimsy justification will be that I've dared to criticise an airport parking officer for the way he carried out his job, so therefore my job, unrelated though it is to this blog, the post, or the incident in question, is therefore somehow fair game.
Still, being attacked by someone as respected as Andrew Bolt is hardly something of which to be ashamed so, bring it on, mate.
NOTE: I do strongly advise Mr Bolt's moderators to keep a handle on any defamatory comments his readers may feel inspired to make, though.
UPDATE #3 Now that the matter has got way out of hand, and been publicised well beyond a mention in some minor blog post, I am no longer comfortable with identifying the official. That detail has now been deleted.
UPDATE #4 (30/7): After reviewing the incident on their video recording, the council has withdrawn the fine. Unfortunately there's buckley's of getting the "administrative" charge back from Hertz, but it's hardly worth fighting it given the amount involved, so that's the end of the matter.
