Is that what they call it?

Hardly seems like the right word:
DOCTOR Who fans could get their look at the new Doctor next month with the ABC fast-tracking a special Christmas episode of the cult series...

Normally Australian fans have to wait up to nine months for the traditional Doctor Who Christmas special to screen locally, but the ABC has pushed forward the air date given the intense interest in the series...

The Next Doctor will air on ABC1 on January 25 at 7.30pm followed by an encore screening of series two on Tuesday nights.

"FAST"-tracking? That's not "fast-tracking" the episode. "Fast-tracking" would be broadcasting it within 24 hours of the BBC. Screening it one month later instead of nine is just screwing Australian viewers slightly less than usual.

Seriously - a month is "fast"? There are plenty of Australian TV viewers without a contractual relationship with the BBC who'll be viewing the episode much quicker than that...

As News notes:
The cult series is among the most popular illegally downloaded shows on the internet.

Gee, I wonder why.

UPDATE 5/1: And look, here's some news about the next Doctor that's been in all the Australian newspapers and that more than slightly ruins the still-unbroadcast-in-Australia Xmas Special, "The Next Doctor". That the ABC is not going to broadcast until a month after Xmas.

Man, I'd hate to be someone who (a) cared and (b) was waiting for the ABC to get around to showing it (ie, their potential audience).
