A BRISBANE council has ordered an ex-soldier to take down the Australian flag outside his house because a neighbour says it is "offensive".
A council (probably dominated by filthy lefties) taking away a veteran's freedom to fly his flag?! I am going to ignore the fact that the above quote is not actually borne out by the article at all (a neighbour did complain, but the council only ordered the flag's moving a few metres on the grounds that where it was placed on the block violated the planning code, and thus to claim it was its "offensiveness" that made the council so order is misleading and wrong) because it's irrelevant.
The point is that this news, the way I'm choosing to take it, confirms my suspicion that un-Australian forces are destroying this country, that they've wormed their way into government and are taking away our freedoms.
We proud patriots should file this away as one more reason to hate teh left. And defiantly wave our flags even higher.
UPDATE: After a not in any way idiotic outcry of the sort predicted above, the city council has made an exception for Mr Wilson ("whose friends fought in Iraq"!) and he will not be required to obey the same planning laws as everyone else.
Inspired by this magnificent result, I intend to blanket Ringwood with the world's biggest, and most inconvenient, Australian flag. Screw you, everyone whose house will be covered - Mr Wilson's friends fought in Iraq for my right to put an Australian flag wherever the hell I like. How dare you make a mockery of their sacrifice.
UPDATE #2: The price of paranoia is eternal vigilance:
I believe that when it comes to patriotic displays (i.e. flying the flag), the left have adopted a policy of small, short gains (death by a thousand cuts so to speak).
Consider an article some time ago (I believe by Greg Sheriden of The Australian) that caused outrage among the usual suspects. In it, Greg described the anguish of the left when it came to Anzac Day, the corresponding flag waving and the ever increasing numbers in recent years.
The left, Greg said, simply didn't know how to attack it. They knew they should; Anzac Day being a day of selfless sacrifice, but they didn't know how.
As such, you see such cases as Mr. Wilson being attacked. This is their mantra. Rest assured all - after the usual comments have died down, and this is all settled as a 'misunderstanding', the left will try again. Another town, another house, another proud Australian.
They only have to succeed once in every hundred cases, then it will be every ten cases, and eventually, no-one will fly the flag.
It will be 'too difficult'.
My god, we're insidious.
UPDATE #3: An example of the "I oppose kitten-burning" principle?
