I ask because the logic you and your ministers were running over the weekend appears to have been -
- We need money to fund public services for the elderly and disabled.
- Selling the state's electricity supply is the only way of getting that money.
- Therefore, unless you want to cut services for the elderly and disabled, we must sell the state's electricity supply.
But, guys, you don't win the argument by banging on about point one (on which not an ALP member would disagree); you have to establish point two to get to the conclusion in point three. Only problem is that point two is clearly, patently false, as the ALP delegates were trying to get you to see.
And is there anything more irritating and frustrating than someone ignoring the entirely valid argument you're actually making and instead attacking a strawman you never proposed? I don't blame the party members for being annoyed with "their" parliamentary team.
I wonder if they'll remember that they can disendorse MPs who no longer represent the party.
