Here's to 2006

I may not be able to blog again until Sunday.

If not - have a great New Year's, and let's hope 2006 is a marginally less sucky year for the world than 2005, eh? Admittedly, it wasn't too bad for me - I married my love, bought a house, and changed careers. But for the world at large, 2005 was a bit of a nightmare, I think we can all agree.

And while we're there - what's your pick for the MOST THOROUGHLY DEPRESSING bit of news from 2005? Was it the London bombings? The tsunami (it happened after Christmas, so it counts as 2005, okay)? Howard gaining control of the Senate? WorkChoices - the legislation, or the $55 million ad campaign? All the comedians who kept dying? The death of the old pope/appointment of the new one? Sir Joh getting a state funeral in Queensland?

And what are you looking forward to in 2006? (Other than NEXT FRIDAY NIGHT'S GROGBLOGGING AT ZALETI AND THREE DEGREES*!)

*In the absence of any suggestions, and since it was a pretty good venue last time, it's the same place as the June grogblogging, for those who were there. For those who weren't - the description (and photos) are here. Same time, as well - 7.30pm at Zaleti for dinner; 8.30pm at Three Degrees for drinks etc.

Please let me know in the comments if you're coming and haven't let me know already.
